Established in 2020, Halfway Home K9 Rescue is a Canadian registered not for profit dog rescue with a mission of helping dogs who need us most. We are a 100% foster based rescue commited to finding forever homes for dogs in Ontario. With our network of hardworking volunteers, fosters and other community partners, our goal is to place every dog in their best matched home.
We aim to work ethically with northern community members to support them and their dogs. The northern communities we assist are remote and isolated, and are accessible only by air. They do not receive regular shipments of canine supplies or food. They do not have access to veterinary care for their pets. These remote communities face difficult decisions about the dogs of their community. We are here to support them. Our adoption program provides northern community members with the reassurance that their beloved dogs will be placed in permanent, caring homes. We are their halfway point; they are "halfway home" in their journey to their forever home. Each dog that we welcome to our rescue receives comprehensive veterinary care prior to adoption.
It is a priority of our organization to that we remain ethical and true to our values. We are trying to build and maintain positive and solid relationships with communities, being able to educate and support, and assist as much as possible.
We rely solely on donations to fund our efforts and continue assisting northern remote communities.

We can't help dogs in need without our dedicated foster families. Providing temporary shelter to one of our dogs allows us the time to find the perfect match for that dog. There is no cost to fostering a dog, we cover everything! In turn, you provide all the love in the world to your foster dog.
We are always looking for volunteers to help our rescue. Some volunteer opportunities include: being a flight escort (no cost to you), making a vet or airport run, helping on intake days. Please email us to find out more or click below to apply!
Sadly across Canada, we have a massive dog over-population crisis. We want to support remote communities with much needed veterinary care, which is non-existent in these fly-in only communities. Did you know a single unaltered female dog and her offspring can produce over 67,000 puppies in just 6 years? It takes roughly $20,000 to fund a spay and neuter clinic in a remote community.
With your help, we can assist in better lives for both humans and animals in a Northern community where stray dogs and over-population is a huge issue.
