We want to help all the dogs that we can and bring them into rescue but are limited by the number of foster homes we have available. To help solve this issue, we are searching for foster-to-adopt homes that are flexible with the arrival of their new furry friend. After all screening is completed, we may suggest a dog as a potential match and ask you to foster this dog. We will provide you with photos and a bio of the dog. The screening process is the same as a standard adoption application as the intent is to adopt the dog. If you are interested in FTA, we ask that you complete an adoption application.
As a foster to adopt family, you'll be expected to take your new family member home on the same day they arrive, sometimes this can be late at night, we cannot control the time transports arrive at. After welcoming home your FTA dog, you will have up to 30 days to get to know your new pet. If at any point during the 30 days you choose not to move forward with adoption, we ask that you continue to provide a loving and safe environment while we search for their forever family.
Keep in mind your new forever friend will have just had the longest journey of their life and will need time to decompress.
FTA families will be required to pay a $275 deposit on the adoption fee with the remaining portion of the fee due upon finalizing the adoption. If at the end of the 30 days you choose not to adopt your FTA dog, we will refund you within 14 days of your dog being adopted into a new family, as long as you see your dog through to adoption. If you choose to return the dog to the care of the rescue before the 30 days is up, you will forfeit your deposit. You will be asked to sign a FTA agreement.
We kindly ask that FTA families provide their own supplies and should have the following ready for their dog:
- martingale "no slip" collar with dog tag (including phone #) securely attached
- 2 leashes (we recommend one slip lead and one 6 ft nylon leash)
- chest harness if applicable
- food/water bowl
- dog food
- dog bed
We have several dogs with partnering rescues we’d like to assist. If you would like to be a FTA family, please consider filling out an adoption form, subject it as “FTA” under dog name and tell us what you're looking for with personality traits. Take into consideration requests such as small, non-shedding may be more difficult/not possible.
You can start the FTA process by completing our adoption application here
